Montessori Summer Fun
Through summer school children enjoy a nurturing, non-competitive learning environment. We are lucky
to have a beautiful garden with lots of trees (providing shade during hot days) where many of our activities take place. Summer school involves music, sports, history, science, cooking, horseback riding, arts & craft. Children are also able to benefit by programs that help develop exploration of other countries and customs. Each day children also enjoy nature discovery and games.
Our summer school activities are fun and theme orientated. Some of the weeks’ activities include.
Dinosaurs
What is a dinosaur? Where did dinosaurs live? How long ago did they live? Find out these answers and more by joining us on our Prehistoric Journey! (The wheel was not invented yet, so we’ll have to go on foot!) The children will explore the mysterious world of dinosaurs through crafts, games, interactive activities and preparing fun snacks. A must for any preschooler you know who has a fascination for Dino!
Journey through Art
How can we paint? Let us count the ways... marble painting, finger painting, sponge painting, splatter
painting, glitter paint, spin art, water colors, mini rollers and stamps just to name a few! This session combines creativity with physical activity.
This colorful journey is great for little ones! Children will enjoy learning about artistic masterpieces and create some of their own. We will also learn art techniques from around the world. Each creative day is sure to be picture perfect!
Music Rocks!
This program is sure to bring out the little Mozart in your child! Children will make a variety of instruments including drums, shakers, rain sticks, paper guitars and tambourines. Listening, singing and rhythm concepts will be our focus as we have fun exploring music. We will listen to music from Africa, Asia and South America. Each day will also include lots of great exercise and fun games through music.
Knights and Princesses
We will capture the fun spirit of "ye olden days" with a knight's and princesses theme. This medieval week will be all about capturing a little creativity to invent a wonderful atmosphere. Children will use their imaginations to bring this topic alive. We will definitely create icons of castles, shields, swords, tiaras, dragons and gold coins. It sure is royalty!!
Native Indians
Students will learn that many years ago there were many different Indian tribes who lived in America. We will read how they depended on land for food, shelter and clothing. We will have fun building a teepee and learn that it is a conical tent originally made of animal skins or birch bark. Children will have fun making Native American crafts and playing games such as bow and arrow shooting!
Please call for a summer brochure. Lunch and snacks are provided each day.
