ABOUT GCIS

GLOBAL CONCEPTS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
is a nurturing Montessori community for children from 6 months to 5 years of age. The school first opened its doors in 1996, initially offering a Primary program. Three years later a Toddler program was introduced and our Infant program started in 2006. In August 2006 GCIS moved to a renovated villa in the quiet picturesque, country setting of Šárka’s valley.

MISSION:
The aim is to have happy and confident children who will develop with a healthy awareness and appreciation of others and the environment.

OUR PHILOSOPHY:

• School should be a safe, exciting, and joyful environment where children feel as free and secure as they do at home.
• Children are born curious, creative and motivated to learn, they don’t need artificial structure and pressure to make them learn.
• The curriculum and facilities should be designed to encourage self discovery and self confidence.
• Every child should learn at his or her own pace without pressure and comparison to others. Learning quickly is not necessarily a sign of greater intellect or talent.
• Competition and accountability stifle confidence and creativity and should not be used as a means to motivate children.
• In order to develop social skills, classes have children of different ages just like in a family. It allows children to be both mentored by the older children, and, learn leadership skills while looking after the younger ones.
